Lots of games have you killing demons–heck, it’s the launching point for the entire first-person shooter genre–but few have you facing metaphorical hellspawn. Sinner’s Sorrow will have you doing just that, facing those inner demons. With a sword. You’ll murder metaphorical demons with a sword.
It’s incredibly early in development, but this 2D action-adventure has a very impressive look, with monochrome art and a monstrous atmosphere. The developers cite inspirations as wide-ranging as Limbo, Dark Souls, Dust: An Elysian Tale, and Darksiders, promising an in-depth combat system as part of big, explorable world full of mysteries to solve.
Of course, there are already tons of great independent games out there. We just happen to have a list of the best indie games on PC!
It’s a long way from release, but the above trailer promises, at the very least, some very interesting flavor. The Dutch developers at bitHuffel plan to hit Greenlight soon, and say that a crowdfunding campaign is ”likely.”
Who knows how the final game will shape up, but the promise of a redemptive quest in an atmospheric world is a compelling one. We’ll look for more on Sinner’s Sorrow as it progresses through development.
