Titanfall 2 has launched worldwide today on multiple platforms including on PC via EA’s Origin store. The long awaited sequel to the giant mech-filled FPS has been looked upon with cautious optimism to see if developers Respawn Entertainment can improve upon their last short-lived success.
Both critic and user reviews are starting to flood through and thus far it seems that critics hold high praise for the sequel citing its new found focus on a story driven single player and its all-round improvements to the multiplayer side of the game. User reviews thus far seem mixed but are certainly trending towards positive. Some of the criticisms surround the short length of the single plaer campagin and lack of major innovaion in the gameplay.
There thus far seems to be a consensus however, that regardless of the few negatives, the sequel is a step in the right direction for the franchise. With more custimization for Titans and pilots in the multiplayer, players can now feel unique unlike the first game where everyone looked the same and used the same assets.
The big question that has yet to be answered is will the improvements and new features be enough to retain a playerbase long term. The original Titanfall was all but abandoned with a few short months and even with DLC never managed to retain a strong player abse for any length of time.
