Signalling the companies slight deviation of the title that put them on the map, CCP announce Sparc - the finalised name for Project Arena.
Typically focusing on various games revolving around their expansive EVE universe between EVE: Online, EVE: Valkyrie and Dust 513, CCP games recently announced their first venture away from their home-grown IP.
Originally named Project Arena, the newly named Sparc is a title we've seen a little over already over the years with the big VR push. Being what is essentially virtual reality Pong, it's a full-body experience that many would likely indentify as an adaption of Tron.
Expected some time this year, CCP understandably wants Sparc to be a massive multiplayer success. Being an easy enough concept for most to handle, it's all about using angles, trajectory and varying degrees of force to bounce discs around your opponents shields.
Including online matchmaking from day 1, it's a good indication of how multiplayer VR experiences could become a pretty interesting eSport in the future that likely won't sit well appearing on national TV. Build within Unreal Engine, Sparc will release on Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and PlayStationVR - much like CCP's other VR ventures.
