Randy Pitchford from Gearbox Software has revealed that the company is currently working on its biggest title yet. Pichford will be directing the game but says that he can’t mention it publicly yet but promises that when we find out what it is we’ll agree that he can’t oversell it.
He said: “I’ve started a new project. It’s big. It’s, like, look-at-our-line-up-and-imagine-something-even-bigger kind of big. I’m Directing it myself. I can’t mention it publicly yet. When you find out what this is, you’ll likely agree that I can’t oversell this one.”
Gearbox are also looking for some new senior artists and lead artists to help with the development of this unannounced game:
“I’m looking for some talent from outside of Gearbox to join us for this one. Specifically, we need a super senior artist – lead artist or art director level. Can you motivate and inspire others while making sure they’re productive? Do you know the tools and techniques for this gen’s AAA? Want to do something that is going to be super relevant - that everyone will notice and play when you’re finished? You’ll work directly with me (and a kick-ass team) and you’ll define a lot of the game’s look and feel (and you’ll get to contract the best concept artists in the world to help you).
“Gearbox is on fire right now and it’s only looking better down the road. This is an extremely rare chance to join up in a super senior role with a lot of authority and responsibility. Even if you’re only curious, just introduce yourself to me by e-mailing dreamgig@gearboxsoftware.com Yeah, it’s a campy address, but when you hear more about the project you’ll probably agree. We can be extremely discreet if you’re curious but don’t want to represent that you’re looking to leave your current gig - just let us know. If you don’t know about us, more information about Gearbox Software can be found at www.gearboxsoftware.com.”
Gearbox will also be at DICE and GDC in Feb so we could find out more about this then, but it’s unlikely.
Reports suggest that it could be a game set in the Halo universe, since Bungie recently became an independent studio, so Microsoft might be looking at Gearbox to continue the Halo series. Tell us what you think below.
