Despite selling a healthy 534,000 copies of the latest Guitar Hero game over four consoles, it still pales when compared to its predecessors 1.39 million sold.
Activision will be happy at least that World Tour managed to best Rock Band’s 238,000 units shifted. Still the game has failed to achieve a place in October’s top ten.
The most likely reason for it managing not to crack the coveted top ten list is because World Tour spans over four consoles and no individual platform version has sold like hotcakes.
The other reason for lower sales for the game is the cost for peripherals and the global economic climate right now. $189.99 for the ‘complete’ Guitar Hero World Tour bundle just isn’t attractive to gamer wallets en masse.
Activision best do something to nip this in the bud if it intends to milk the franchise until music itself is considered ‘uncool’, and we all go back to yoyos… again.
