The developer’s tools are based on the PC platform but while the latest Final Fantasy may be built on the PC, there hasn’t been a nod toward an actual release on the platform.
All the newly internal-developed games from Square Enix will now be using their PC based Crystal Tools. It was recently revealed that FFXIII is coming to Xbox360 - outside Japan.
”The content will be the same on all platforms,” said FFXIII producer Yoshinori Kitase, according to Nvidia’s Nzone.
”Currently the game is being built on PC, where it’s actually functional.”
Capcom too have focused on PC platform development for their latest games like Lost Planet and Devil May Cry 4, to which both have also been released on PC. Whether Square Enix will ramp up their own PC releases more now with Crystal Tools remains to be seen.
”Now that we’re developing on a PC base, the pace is going a bit faster,” Kitase said. ”We haven’t introduced new footage of the game, but we should be able to show something new in the near future.”
Currently their focus is on the PS3 version of the game, ”so it’s difficult to know how long the process of taking it to 360 will take.” The Xbox360 version will only be made available to North America and Europe.
