FIFA producer David Rutter of EA Sports has said he’s ”extremely proud and privileged” to be doing what he loves and EA aren’t bad guys anymore.
Conceding he ”used to be” one of EA’s critics, Rutter praises ”the work Peter Moore” and others who’ve helped turn it around. They spend huge cash on gameplay and not gimmicks.
”I am extremely proud and privileged to be doing this job,” Rutter tells MCV in an interview.
”It does upset me that people bad-mouth EA, and I used to be one of those people. But the fact that I am allowed to spend so much money on making good gameplay, without having to do anything gimmicky, to me speaks volumes of the work Peter Moore and other people in the organisation are doing.”
”And that is doing what matters most to the fans, refining the game, innovating and putting in game modes that people want,” he continued.
”The critical and commercial success of FIFA 2009 has put a lot of pressure on us for this new game, but I am fortunate that I work in an environment that lives and breathes on pressure.” EA has changed a lot since CEO John Riccitiello took the helm, a lot of emphasis has been placed more on taking time to produce quality and not quantity.
Has the publishing giant EA done enough in your eyes to lose their bad rep, videogamer?
