Sony is enjoying a resurgence for their PlayStation 3 console reveal NPD numbers, but overall Nintendo is still walking all over the competition.
PS3 sales were up 72 percent over July, as all consoles saw an increase except the PS2. Meanwhile Madden NFL 10 became the best-sell shifting nearly 1.6m copies for 360 and PS3.
”Whilst Nintendo continues to outsell all its opposition in the August hardware sales figures in North America, the biggest gains were enjoyed by the resurgent PS3, according to NPD’s August sales data,” reports MCV.
Nintendo is crowned the winner once again with Wii sales at 277k and DS at 553k. Xbox 360 nabs third place with 215k, with the PlayStation 3 selling 210k. The last-gen PlayStation 2 was the only console not to see an upswing in sales.
Madden NFL 10 sold 928k copies for Xbox 360, which managed to beat Nintendo Wii and its Wii Sports Resort at 754k. The PS3 claims a little over 600k Madden NFL 10 copies.
