Terminator: Salvation and Bionic Commando Rearmed developer GRIN aren’t smiling anymore, with blame going to publishers ”delaying their payments”.
The cash flow situation was too much to handle, the reveal in a goodbye letter. They thank a lot of guys for helping them through the years, including Capcom US and Ubisoft. Farewell.
”It is with a heavy heart we announce today that GRIN has been forced to close its doors. This as too many publishers have been delaying their payments, causing an unbearable cashflow situation,” said GRIN.
”After twelve years of hard work, employing hundreds of wonderfully talented men and women, it is over. It has been a great adventure and the GRIN family has experienced what few have.”
Over those 12 years GRIN have released: Ballistics, Bandits, GRAW 1 & 2, Bionic Commando Rearmed, Wanted: Weapons of Fate, Terminator: Salvation, and Bionic Commando. Sadly not all of these games proved to be a hit with fans or critics.
Still there is some good news from the bad, the former GRIN Gothenburg, Sweden studio has resurrected itself as Outbreak Studios. It’s a 25-man team with a mission statement already in hand, and eyes for next-gen projects.
”Our mission is to develop titles for Xbox 360 (XBLA), PS3 (PlayStation Store), Games for Windows Live, PSP Go and iPhone,” says the new Outbreak. ”We also deliver online components for AAA titles, both existing or upcoming.”
