According to words spied on, pinched, and then translated from a Frenchie games mag - Command & Conquer 4 is having some big changes made to the formula.
A new war brews between GDI and Nod, FMV scenes will be less talky and more action, the player is pivotal in the story, it’s more stern and grown up, and Crawlers produce our troops!
PC Jeux is the French gamers mag to have the details, which have since been pilfered by the Internets, as dictates tradition. Below are some of the highlights, thanks to C&C Files:
Caution: Possible spoiler alert!
-
Kane contacts GDI after all hope is lost due to the Tiberium contamination, forming the “Tiberium network control”, which allows to control Tiberium spread, as well as turn it into an inexpensive power source - but of course, the extremists of both parties don’t agree with this shift, sparking a new war
-
FMVs won’t consist of much asinine babbling in front of blue screens, there should be much more action ahead
-
Our character will play an important role in the story, but FMVs remain 1st person
-
Much more mature and stern tone
-
Crawler produces all our units, and is upgradeable as our standard units are
-
Lost crawlers are instantly replaced, and you can choose between offensive, defensive or engineer classes
-
Tiberium will be collected by refineries you erect yourself at pre-determined spots
-
All SP and MP matches will net you experience points to unlock new tech
-
Oil derricks as secondary income (Unconfirmed!)
Commander & Conquer 4 is set as the final chapter in the Tiberium saga, and is being developed exclusively on the PC with controversial ‘always-on’ Internet required to play. Fansite C&C Files also have a number of shots from the magazine uploaded.
