US retail chain Best Buy is allegedly trying to take advantage of consumers by effectively selling the free firmware updates for Sony’s Playstation 3 console.
A store in Staten Island, New York, has been seen with a sticker that advertises the firmware updates, along with a list of improvements, but also a price tag that is $30 dearer than the normal RRP of a console SKU.
The advert lists the firmware updates as being able to ”Eliminates Bugs and Glitches” and “Play All Blu-Ray Movies and Games”. This is a bit misleading, but it could be the justification Best Buy are using for the heftier price tag.
We’ll bring you more news on this as we get it.
