The bill, whilst trying to ‘modernise’ the way the country deals with things like the Internet and other rising technologies, has come under much criticism because MP’s feel it has been rushed through, as well as containing many less-than perfect solutions.
The legislation will now become law after going through the parliamentary wash-up process, passing with a majority vote of 142.
Out of the measures included in the bill, including new anti-piracy controls, the main one for the games industry is that PEGI ratings will now become the sole age rating system in the UK, with the BBFC now sticking with Films and Television like the good old days.
