A job listing for a “PlayStation 3 Specialist” reads: ”Blizzard Entertainment is seeking an enthusiastic senior software engineer to be a key contributor on the Diablo team. This position is responsible for overseeing PlayStation 3 (PS3) architecture design, as well as other PS3-specific game code development to maximize platform performance.”
When Blizzard posted a job listing for “Lead Designer, Console,” the company hinted around that consoles would be considered for Diablo III. According to a statement from Blizzard, ”We’re exploring a Diablo-related concept for consoles and are currently looking to fill a few senior console-related positions on the Diablo III team. As we’ve said in the past, with proper care, the gameplay could suit the console platform, and we’re interested in seeing what talent out there might be interested in such a project.”
As far as the Xbox 360, it remains to be seen. The Xbox 360 is easier to port from the PC due to sharing the same DirectX language. On the other hand, Xbox Live may be a barrier, since Blizzard is building Battle.net 2.0.
