Report: Average UK gamer plays on 3.9 platforms

A report by Newzoo has issued a report stating that 52% of the United Kingdom’s population (31M of 60M) are active gamers, and that the average UK gamer plays on 3.9 platforms.

* 22 million play casual browser-based games

• 21 million play console titles

• 20 million play on mobile devices

• 18 million play social networking games

• 16 million play retail PC and Mac games

• 15 million play digital PC and Mac games

• 11 million play MMOs

Other factiods include the fact 43 million hours are spent gaming every day in the UK. 21% of that figure is for console gaming, while 18% is for social networks. 10% for MMOs and 10% more for boxed PC and Mac games. Finally 9% is for PC and Mac download games. 49 million UK gamers are described as active internet users aged 10 to 49.

£1.6 billion will be spent on console gaming this year. However, the total figure of £3.6 billion spent is down on 2010’s £3.7 billion.
