Some loading screens have been uncovered that reveal artworks of Hoth with words like ‘skirmish, ‘tug of war’ and ‘Victory Class Star Destroyer’. They were stored in a ‘Luke’ folder.
It seems rumours that Slant Six were at one time working on a Star Wars: Battlefront title were true but recent rumblings have the IP at Spark Unlimited, dev of Legendary.
Spark also created Call of Duty: Finest Hour and Turning Point: Fall of Liberty.
”It is the morning of the Imperial assault on the Rebel base on Hoth,” one of the loading screens state. “The wreckage of a downed Victory Class Star Destroyer is the setting for one of the first battles over Echo Base and the future of the Rebellion hangs in the balance.” It was the BetaGames forums that reported the find.
There were also orange jumpsuit textures for Luke Skywalker from The Empire Strikes Back. A directory named Luke holds the data on the Operation Raccoon City disc apparently. It was reported back in January 2010 that Slant Six Games were handling a title called Star Wars: Battlefront Online and it’s possible they still could, although unlikely.
Meanwhile Spark Unlimited have teased they’re ”working on a sequel for a well known sci-fi franchise,” and that “all aspects must remain secret.” LinkedIn profiles and job ads reveal a sci-fi IP involving ‘sword fights’…
Battlefront 3 began its strip tease to fans when Free Radical leaked their alpha build gameplay footage which was meant to be a purely internal bit of media. It showed some pretty ambitious stuff like full blown story as well as being able to travel between ground and space combat seamlessly. It was awesome, but canned, and thus our hearts broke.
Thanks NeoGAF.
