The studio is confident they’ve picked an ”identifiable name that will resonate” with Game of Thrones fans. Seven Kingdoms begins after the death of the King.
Bigpoint’s MMO will be following the HBO TV series adaptation of George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire, much like they based Battlestar Galactica Online from the latest TV show.
“Selecting a game’s title can be quite an arduous process, especially in the free-to-play space where games must be easily discoverable by players around the world,” said producer Max Pfaff.
“By selecting Game of Thrones Seven Kingdoms we’re confident that we’ve chosen an identifiable name that will resonate with the global community of diehard Thrones fans.”
The MMO begins when King Robert Baratheon has died and the Starks of the north declare war on the south for independence. ”Players are challenged to form alliances through Player vs. Player (PvP), Siege combat and politics to control Westeros,” blurbs the press release. A trailer will air July 12-15 at Comic-Con.
