“This game has been a labor of love that we’ve worked on for 18 month. There hasn’t been a good robot game in a while and nothing that looks like what we’re trying to do, which is more like Call of Duty multiplayer,” stated Adhesive CEO Khang Le, who co-founded the Alhambra, CA-based development studio.
Adhesive was formed in 2010 by Le, K. Jonathan Kreuzer (technical lead), Dave Nguyen (designer/artist) and Christopher Lalli (animator), along with seven other employees, all of whom initially worked for no pay and future considerations. When the team released the initial gameplay video on YouTube, it received over 1.9M hits (to date), and earned the studio over 1,400 Twitter followers and 4,000 Facebook fans.
The game will be monetized via virtual goods micro-transactions for items such as better weapons, armor, and defenses.
Le promises the game will be able to run ”on a wide variety of computers”. Gamers with good PCs and broadband will get 60fps. Players with older PCs will still be able to run the game at 30fps, however.
