Users level 5 or above will have access to a mission where they can ‘test drive’ an Odyssey starship, and will be given their own once it’s completed. What about Klingons?
Engineer Kani leads the Odyssey-class mission for users level 5 and above, while KDF level 21 and over get a shakedown mission with a Bortas (Vengeance) class starship.
These two starships are provided for free during the four day celebration of the MMO, but will be unavailable once the ceremony ends for quite some time. ”We are rapidly approaching Star Trek Online’s second anniversary on February 2nd, 2012. To celebrate this moment in Star Trek history, we have four days of fun lined up for you,” blog Cryptic.
”The event will run from around 10 AM PST on Thursday, February 2nd, through around the same time on Monday, February 6th.” Once again Cryptic are using Q as the ”master of ceremonies.”
”Starfleet Command is commissioning the new Odyssey class cruiser starship that weekend. Players level 5 and above should report to Engineer Kani (in front of Admiral Quinn’s office on Earth Spacedock) for a mission to take one of the new Odyssey class ships on a shakedown cruise,” outlines the developer.
”Complete the mission to receive an Odyssey class ship of your very own.”
Don’t worry because Klingons aren’t left out: ”When the Klingon Defense Force intelligence service alerted the High Council with Starfleet’s activities, they decided to launch their newest ship, the Bortas (Vengeance) class starship the same day. KDF officers level 21 and above should report to Engineer Tum’Era (in front of the Great Hall on Qo’noS) for a similar shakedown mission. Those who complete the mission will earn a Bortas class ship of their own to command.”
Both starship additions are time sensitive in the short term.
”These two ships will be free to everyone during the event, regardless of level or rank. The ships require you be level 50 to fly them in combat, so characters of lower level will find an item in their inventory that they cannot use until they reach level 50. After the event, these two ships will no longer be obtainable for a while. We have not finalized details yet on when they will return, but we will announce the details once we have them,” continued Cryptic.
Will you be celebrating Star Trek Online’s second birthday, video gamer? It’s free-to-play now.
