Activision has announced that everyone’s favorite webslinger will be hitting retail today in North America as The Amazing Spider-Man has been released for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, as well as the Wii, Nintendo DS and Nintendo 3DS. The game is a tie-in to the major motion picture that is hitting theaters in limited release this Friday and worldwide on the 3rd July.
The game is being developed by Beenox, which worked on three previous Spidey games for Activision.
The Amazing Spider-Man takes place after the events in the film, and is an original story penned by Seamus Kevin Fahey, who is best known for his work on the Battlestar Galactica TV series. The game will pit Spidey against such classic villains Scorpion, Felicia Hardy, Rhino, Iguana and more.
The game will be released in Europe on the 29th June, and Activision has announced the release date for the PC version as well - it will be hitting Steam on the 10th August, along with the usual Steam bonuses such as Achievements and cloud saves.
