Double Fine Adventure is just one project on the go, while others still need publisher approval. It’s ”not a big amount” to them but big for Double Fine. It’s not a game-changer.
”This is just one of our projects,” Tim Schafer said. Double Fine Adventure is billed as an old school point and click adventure with huge input from Ron Gilbert.
”We have four teams here. Those other teams are still out there pitching new games to publishers, and their response has always been, “Oh that’s great – congratulations on that. Now let’s talk about games like we always have.”
”I don’t think any publishers are quaking in their boots – they’re like, “Oh, two million dollars, that’s cute! That’s the marketing budget for the little game I’m working on.” It’s not a big amount of money for them. It’s a big amount of money for us though,” he continued in an interview with Rock, Paper, Shotgun.
Originally the Kickstarter project asked for $400k but it’s ballooned to over $2.2 million. This has meant the Double Fine team will expand it to more platforms and include English voice-overs. Have you backed Double Fine Adventure?
