The relaunched MMO will be taken offline for emergency maintenance work in a bid to alleviate the troubles. Registering before September 9th expires will net you this extra free 7 days.
Square simply underestimated the crush of players logging into the overhauled MMO, which was originally plagued by ‘poor design choices’ and taken offline.
”Because login and character creation restrictions have hindered our ability to provide quality service, all Final Fantasy 14 service accounts will receive an additional seven days of free play time,” Square Enix said.
”Furthermore, users who have yet to enter their registration codes will receive an additional seven-day trial should they register before 11.59 pm (PDT) on September 9, 2013. Moving forward, we will continue monitoring the servers to ensure that quality service and support are provided in a timely manner.”
This emergency maintenance is from today at 5.00pm PDT for 10 hours. The studio plan on ”increasing the number of available Worlds, reducing stress on the Duty Finder servers, and increasing the number of concurrent logins allowed for each server”, i.e. switch their systems to ‘MMO mode’. It’s a bold plan that might just work.
