The spot they want filled is for a senior system designer and they preferably have experience with”building and/or playing Shooters, MMOs, RPGs, or RTS games,” and be proficient in itemization.
The successful applicant would either join this unannounced project, or their already teased Fortnite. Are Epic muscling in on the MMO space? Will it be free-to-play?
”Epic Games is looking for a Systems Designers to join one of two projects. One of the teams is working on an unannounced competitive online action game that includes player progression, heavy itemization, and a dynamic economy; the other is for Fortnite,” reads the Epic Games website.
”In either of these roles you’ll be working on the biggest most important systems and will have a hand in designing everything from economics and itemization to balancing combat mechanics. You’ll be responsible for general design, balance, rules, interface, etc. and will play an integral role in defining the outcome of the project.”
The ad was spotted by NeoGAF, and the position is at Epic North Carolina. Fortnite is Epic’s co-op sandbox survival game where players must explore, scavenge materials and build fortified structures to fend off waves of monsters.
