The US videogame analyst group, the NPD, has revealed that the “core gamer” group is likely to buy used games. The NPD considers “core gamers” as those who play more than 5 hours per week. There are, according to the NPD, 37.5M core gamers in the US.
The NPD survey polled 6,322 gamers who reported that their spending had dropped since last year. However, 88% of core gamers stated they had purchased new physical games, while 78% of those gamers stated they’d bought used games.
70% of the core games purchased full digital titles.
