The game is being developed by Red Thread Games, ”an independent game development studio founded by Ragnar Tørnquist,” the original creator of the Dreamfall games. Tørnquist has ”brought together the core team behind Dreamfall for this long-awaited sequel.”
According to the developer, “The first two games in the saga were made by Funcom, but for Dreamfall Chapters, Red Thread Games has licensed the rights to the saga from Funcom, and we are producing and funding the game ourselves, independently of any publisher.”
Despite already having reached over half its funding goal in three days, Red Thread Games won’t be revealing any stretch goals until the goal is reached. ”Rest assured that we have some VERY exciting stretch goals in the works – including more content, more characters (Abnaxus the Venar, anyone?), more platforms, and a HUGE, huge surprise for The Longest Journey fans,” the developer promised.
