The vast majority of Aliens: Colonial Marines wasn’t built by Gearbox, an ex-dev claims. Instead, it appears the title was outsourced to TimeGate Studios, who have previously worked on Section 8: Prejudice and FEAR expansions.
”Hate to say it, but I wouldn’t get your hopes up too high for Colonial Marines,” the ex-dev wrote in 2012. ”I used to work at Gearbox, and the development of that game has been a total train wreck, going on what, six years now?””Gearbox isn’t even making the game, except for the multiplayer. Primary development was outsourced to TimeGate Studios, which has a less than stellar past.”
The author of the comment also said he is one of the founders of Armature Studios, which narrows it down to Mark Pacini, Todd Keller or Jack Mathews.
These comments appear to contradict Randy Pitchford, who previously suggested 80% of the game was completed at Gearbox.
