Blizzard Entertainment have delayed the second closed beta season of their strategy card game Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft, according to a post by a community manager on their official forums.
According to the Battle.net post, season one will be extended indefinitely until the second season is ready to go and Blizzard can ensure ”a smooth transition”.
The game’s servers are currently down for maintenance, but community manager Christina Sims also reassured players that existing player ranks will not be changed when the servers come back online.
Blizzard’s collectible card game was expected to enter open beta last month, but developer Jason Chayes confirmed a delay into 2014 on the official website.
“We believe the right thing to do for the game is to not rush it out into open beta, but to instead hold onto it a little longer to make sure it’s ready for wider testing. At BlizzCon, we mentioned that we hoped to get the game into a state where it’s ready for open beta this month, but we’re just not quite there yet. The development team has been working hard to get this out before the end of the year, but our highest priority is that Hearthstone has an awesome launch when all gates are lifted and everyone can download it and play at the same time.”
Hearthstone is expected to launch later this year on PC and Mac.
