Blizzard hinted last week that they were listening to fans requesting the late Robin Williams be immortalised as an NPC in World of Warcraft. Now three characters models have been uncovered in upcoming expansion Warlords of Draenor’s code, suggesting a tribute is on the way.
Williams was a noted fan of Warcraft 3 and World of Warcraft, and was rumoured to have a character on the Mannoroth server.
The new character models consist of a genie resembling Williams’ role in Disney’s Aladdin, a chap in braces who looks like the main character from Mork and Mindy, and a female model with male voice samples attached that’s presumably a Mrs. Doubtfire reference.
The day after news of Williams’ suicide broke and the fan petition was set up, Blizzard tweeted: “@robinwilliams Thank you. You gave us so much joy in our lives, and we hope you enjoyed your time in our world. We’ll see you in-game.”
Since these models were found in Warlords of Draenor’s code, presumably they’ll go live when the expansion drops on November 13.
