Kalypso Media have released a second cinematic teaser for Tropico 5 where they explain how El Presidente came to end up ruling a Caribbean island. It’s a rather tongue-in-cheek ‘origin story’ for the dictator.
Tropico 5 is due this summer for PC and console with a closed beta still running and signs up open. Unlike in previous games, we start in the colonial era but end up in modern times.
It’s not just about managing our islands economy and political grip on the people, but also making sure our island nation survives the ravages of time and whim of global powers.
Co-operative and competitive multiplayer is also featuring for the first time in the series, and allows up to four players to even build on the same island with or against each other. Trading, research, renovation and exploration all play key roles. We’ll control the very historical foundation of Tropico and steer it through major global events like world wars.
Tropico 5 releases on PC, Xbox 360 and PS4 this summer. Beta sign ups are still open.
