Right, so I’m all set up to grumble about the $40/£33 Batman: Arkham Knight Season Pass, which Warner Bros. Gleefully announced last week without remembering to detail anything that it contained.
My problem is though, WB has just revealed that the Pass contains Batgirl as a brand new, playable character in “an all new prequel story expansion”. And as one of those awful comic geeks, I can’t help but feel pretty exited about that. That’s me being part of the problem.
Her new campaign is called A Matter of Family, and takes place in an entirely new location. It’s a prequel too, and given that Barbara Gordon is already confirmed in the latest trailer as being present in Arkham Knight in her role as Oracle, that suggests (avoiding spoilers here) that we might get to play out some pretty significant events in her life. Or, this incarnation of Batgirl might be someone else entirely. This is all very intriguing to nerds like me.
Also listed in the Pass – and you can see the full listed contents below – are new story missions for both Batman and his companions, Robin, Catwoman and Nightwing. The new content will drop every month for six months. Will it justify that hefty price-tag? We’ll have to wait and see.
As always with pre-order content, I’d suggest caution. Plus, if you can nab the expansions individually, you can skip all the Batmobile racing nonsense that, come on, nobody really cares about. Batman: Arkham Knight is coming to PC and consoles this June 23.
