The first trailer for the upcoming Warcraft movie was revealed at Blizzcon today, representing the first look of the combined efforts of Legendary Pictures with Activision Blizzard. It features humans, orcs, and of course, war.
The initial look is quite grand. There’s a lot of CG going on, as might be expected for a movie based on a realm featuring such over-the-top proportions as Warcraft. We get to have a glimpse at both sides, their rivalries, and the possibility of a shakey alliance. It is of note that nothing outside of humans, orcs, or gryphons appeared in the trailer.
The movie is being directed by Duncan Jones. It was written by Charles Levitt and then rewritten by Jones. The cast will feature Dominic Cooper as King Llane Wrynn, Travis Fimmel as Anduin Lothar, Ben Foster as Medivh, Ben Schnetzer as Khadgar, and Ruth Negga as Lady Taria on the Alliance side. The Horde will feature the talents of Clancy Brown as Blackhand, Toby Kebbel as Durotan, Robert Kazinsky as Ogrim, Daniel Wu as Gul’Dan, and Paula Patton as Garona.
The movie is coming in June of 2016.
