Class-based multiplayer RTS Boid is now available through Steam Early Access, featuring a singleplayer campaign and 20 online multiplayer battlegrounds.
The indie title from Contre Jour developer Mokus Games, lets you play as a drone that crashes on alien planet and miust mutate and develop new abilities to survive.
“BOID is a multiplayer RTS which needs a lot of balancing,” writes developer Mokus, explaining the decision to go through the Early Access process. “Even huge AAA RTS games required a lot of time to tweak just right, so we feel like Early Access is a great way to do so as indies. It also gives us the unique opportunity to launch at a low price, and increase it as the game nears completion.”
The full version, which should be ready to play in “a few months”, will include a working level editor and online matchmaking, among other features. It will also be more expensive – right now you can grab the game for $2.99, with the price going up to $9.99 upon full release.
