Blizzard has posted a new update in the Battle.net Blog detailing the upcoming 2.4 patch that will be send to test servers soon. The patch will chiefly add new Adventure Mode content as well as a new gameplay challenge called “Set Dungeons”.
For those who don’t know, the Adventure Mode is the end-game content that can only be accessed after finishing all five Acts of the game. Blizzard will be adding a completely new zone called Greyhollow Island, which the studio calls a forested locale ”steeped in intrigue, and rumors abound that those who visit are doomed to never return.” Two Adventure Mode areas, The Eternal Woods and Royal Quarters, are being made larger.
Blizzard will also be ”revamping, revisiting, or revising nearly every one of the 24 class sets in the game.” While some sets will be tweaked, like Inna’s Mantra and Firebird’s Finery, others will be completely overhauled, including Thorns of the Invoker and the Shadow’s Mantle.
This will come into play as they will be directly associated with a new Adventure Mode challenge called Set Dungeons. Those are dungeons which are specifically built to challenge players wearing complete armor sets. When a player completes a 6 item armor set, a dungeon made for that specific set will unlock. ”These completely static dungeons are not randomized, and it’s up to you to decide how to best utilize your powers to complete these challenges,” warns Blizzard. Completing a set dungeon will add a cosmetic reward for the associated armor set.
Other changes coming to the 2.4 update include over forty new Legendary powers, “empowered riffs” that allow players to turn all that unused gold into powerful gems, more stash space and UI tweaks, among other things. There is no planned released date for the patch yet.
