MOBA Heroes of the Storm has added a new playable character and a new map in its latest closed beta update, allowing players to take command of Warcraft’s famous elf, Sylvanas Windrunner.
Tomb of the Spider Queen, meanwhile, is a brand new three-lane Battleground. Here you’ll have to collect gems to offer to the Spider Queen, eventually summoning powerful Webweaver critters to attacking your enemies.
”Once either team has relinquished enough Gems to the Spider Queen,” explains Blizzard, ”her Webweavers will descend and travel down each lane to siege the opposing team on three fronts. Each team can summon Webweavers by turning in 50 Gems. The number of required Gems will increase by 5 for each subsequent wave.”
Sylvanas herself is described is a ranged character, packing area affect abilities and a number of nasty status effects. Her Heroic Abilities are a Wailing Arrow attack that silences enemies, and Possession, which forces an enemy Minion to fight for you. You can check out her moves in the trailer above.
That’s the exciting stuff out of the way. Also included are a number of changes to the UI, implementation for Team League, the second mode of Ranked play in the game, and altered Hero progression, with the level cap now increased from 10 to 20. Team League lets you form a group with your buddies to take on opposing teams in Ranked play. You can read more about it here.
