Wolcen Studio, the artists formerly known as Solarfall Games, announced today the early release details for Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem, the game formerly known to Kickstarter backers as Umbra.
Wolcen takes Diablo-style action, progression, and loot to an open-world environment. Pieces of the environment will interact with various elemental abilities, like water conducting electrical effects.
You’ll play as a former army officer on the run after developing mysterious magical powers, seeking to end the disease and monstrous invasions destroying the realm. Your character will develop in the way you choose, free from class restrictions.
The March 24 release will put the game in Early Access, allowing players “to explore large segments of its expansive open world.” It’s quite an attractive open world, too, built in Cryengine. Future updates will include cooperative play, crafting, player housing, and the ability to turn said housing into dungeons to challenge others.
