Interesting times are ahead for developer Stardock as reports coming out of the company mention big things for next years line up including an all new VR game and news for fans of Galactic Civilizations III.
Let’s start with the virtual reality news, apparently from sources at Stardock, an unannounced VR game is in the works and will be coming as soon as Spring 2017. Stardock said “It’s not exactly secret that the Nitrous game engine used on Ashes of the Singularity was designed with VR in mind (multi-core, multi-GPU core, etc.). We expect to release our first native VR game this Spring.”
Little detail is known what the VR project could be and if it is going to be a new IP or related to a previous Stardock Title. With Stardock claiming that the title will possibly be coming in Spring, it’s likely we won’t have to wait too long before an official announcement.
Stardock also hinted that big news is on the horizon for Galactic Civilizations 3 with the company stating “Civilization VI is out and it’s a huge hit which is obviously good news for those of us making 4X strategy games. We will have some Galactic Civilizations news coming in the relatively near future.”
The last major expansion for Galactic Civilizations 3 was the mercenaries expansion back in February and players are keen to get their hands on new content. It is likely that new expansion of the game won’t be coming until 2017 and it will be interesting to see what the developers have created in the last year.
