Blizzard has announced on Battle.net that the gigantic 2.4 patch for Diablo III, which had been in beta for several months, is finally live and available for download. The new patch is, in Blizzard’s words, ”crammed full of new features, items, and plenty of quality of life and balance changes.”
How widespread are the fixes, changes, tweaks and additions that come with the 2.4 patch? The changelog comes with a hyperlinked Table of Contents, covering eight categories, many with their own subcategories.
The highlighted features include a new locale, Greyhollow Island, described as being ”steeped in intrigue” and ”hungry for blood.” The update will also add expanded zones, with two existing zones getting larger, adding new enemies, bounties and events. There will also be 24 new custom designed dungeons connected to the various legendary item sets.
Other major features include empowered rifts which allow players a fourth opportunity to upgrade a legendary gem, a revised Buff Bar, and the Action Combat mode where players can emulate the console version of Diablo III complete with combo chains that grant extra XP.
For those who want the skinny of all that the 2.4 patch brings, but don’t want to slog through the entire encyclopedia-length changelog, Blizzard has also released a six minute video explaining everything the patch adds.
