We know a few things about Capybara Games’ Below, but we do know that it’s a roguelike adventure. We know it’s about exploration and survival. We know it has a Dark Souls-style death system. We know it looks great. We know it’ll feature Jim Guthrie’s incredible compositions. We also know that it won’t make its summer release window.
A post on Capybara’s official blog explained the delay. The game’s coming along, but apparently isn’t on schedule to meet the studio’s standards. After a strong push to make it out in their announced release window, the developers determined that the game simply wasn’t ready.
There are already tons of great independent games out there. We just happen to have a list of the best indie games on PC!
“We did a lot of soul searching,” reads the update. “We knew we wanted to get it into your hands as soon as possible. We knew the game was there, and we’re super proud of it, but we also knew it needed more time to make sure it lives up to our studio’s standards, and the quality that you expect from our games.”
The studio has yet to announce a new date for Below.
