Following on from the gameplay demonstration of System Shock Remastered, the long-awaited second sequel - System Shock 3 - has found its publisher.
Going forward, System Shock 3 will be a Starbreeze published title within the company that brought us Dead by Daylight and the PAYDAY franchise.
In development over at Otherside Entertainment under the watchful eye of industry veteran Warren Spector, the team consists of those well-versed in the evolution of classics into their current modern-day iterations like Deus Ex and Thief. There's a good amount of the crew behind the original System Shock and its sequel, too.

Speaking through the report, Starbreeze CEO Bo Andersson-Klint said "We're greatly looking forward to bringing System Shock 3 to players world wide in our collaboration with Otherside Entertainment and Warren Spector's team." Following from the quote, it was revealed that Starbreeze would recoup 120% of their $12 million investment before shifting down to a modest 50% cut of the game's profits. Through the deal, Otherside Entertainment will retain the rights to System Shock 3 - but we can expect them to be first in-line to publish another entry should that ever happen. The deal also means a console version is now confirmed.
With System Shock 3 still being in the early concept stage of development, we shouldn't go expecting this one any time soon. Those looking to follow development more closely, however, should check out the developer's website. If you're looking to play the classic's sequel before the remaster, grab it here.
