Evil Genius 2: World Domination will officially feature a sandbox mode, publisher and developer Rebellion confirmed today. It also revealed the spy-fi lair builder's Deluxe and Collector's editions and announced that pre-orders are now live.
Evil Genius 2's sandbox mode emphasizes freedom when setting up your secret lair. You won't have to worry about campaign progression or gradually unlocking new items, according to the publisher.
"Fill your floors with umpteen pinball bumper traps and watch enemy agents bounce around perpetually. Create the first open-plan supervillain HQ. Or make it impossible for minions to do their jobs by turning your corridors into a ridiculous maze; it’s up to you," reads an emailed press release.
Pre-ordering Evil Genius 2: World Domination, regardless of edition, grants you the Fountain of Youth and Trojan Horse in-game bonus items while discounting the game by 10% (or 15% if you also own the original title on Steam).
Going for the Deluxe Edition, which costs £54.99/$59.99/€59.99, also gives you the Season Pass One, which includes the following post-launch content:
- A campaign pack,
- Two henchmen packs
- Two minions pack
- A lair item pack
The more expensive Evil Genius 2 Collector's Edition (£79.99/$84.99/€84.99) includes everything in the Deluxe Edition, adding a physical statue of Maximilian relaxing on the throne of his inner sanctum, four new comics featuring each of the playable geniuses, and the Evil Genius official magazine.
Also available separately, via newsagents and the Rebellion Store, the latter "delves into the background behind the new chapter in the beloved series with developer interviews, genius profiles and a rundown of the new special features."
Evil Genius 2: World Domination is slated to release on March 30 and headed to PC. You can read more about it in our preview and interview.
