Resident Evil Village is finally available and its fans’ boiling anticipation has translated to a healthy concurrent Steam player count. At the time of writing, more than 65,000 PC players are walking the halls of Castle Dimitrescu and the other dreary locations surrounding the village.
While they might have a bit to go until catching up with Cyberpunk 2077, Resident Evil Village’s concurrent player count looks quite healthy when compared to most releases and the last few years’ entries in the series.
Resident Evil 7 only managed to reach an all-time peak of 18,211 players, according to Steam Charts. The same website shows that Resident Evil 3 Remake got to an all-time peak of 32,635 players.
Resident Evil Village’s Steam player count has already overtaken both of them and, as it’ll likely continue to grow during launch day and the weekend, could even beat Resident Evil 2 Remake’s all-time peak of 74,024 players.
This isn’t necessarily surprising. Village borrows Resident Evil 7’s first-person camera which plenty of fans saw as a refreshing change, as far as gameplay goes.
Lady Dimitrescu setting the internet ablaze also helped, as did Capcom gradually revealing that Village would borrow elements from the fan-favorite Resident Evil 4.
