The speculation has turned into something concrete. The Witcher 3 is getting a brand new expansion in 2027 with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Songs of the Past.
CD Projekt Red had previously announced an anniversary stream for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Blood and Wine expansion, which is set to launch tomorrow, May 28, 2026, at 5 PM CEST. But ahead of that, the Cyberpunk 2077 developer has revealed what everyone had speculated would be coming for The Witcher 3.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Songs of the Past Brings Third Expansion to Hit RPG
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Songs of the Past is a brand new expansion for The Witcher 3 that will take you on the path with Geralt of Rivia once again. CD Projekt Red is co-developing the expansion alongside Fools Theory.
Players of The Witcher 3 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC will be able to get their hands on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Songs of the Past expansion in 2027. No smaller window than that yet, I’m afraid, but the upside is we’re almost getting a new The Witcher game next year.
The new expansion also means a change to system requirements on PC, which CD Projekt Red outlines in a blog post.
Fools Theory already has a connection to The Witcher franchise, as it is currently developing The Witcher Remake. It also developed the 2024 RPG The Thaumaturge.
We should see The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Songs of the Past in action during tomorrow’s Blood and Wine anniversary stream, so we’ll get a better idea of what to expect from this expansion. A connecting bridge to The Witcher 4, perhaps?
