It hopes to prove itself the next Shadow Complex or Battlefield 1943 in terms of digital only success. It has 70 ranks and customisation.
The story is rather straight forward and nothing but a simple pretence for throwing two factions at each other for glorious multiplayer team-based mayhem. It’s set in a dystopian future with some unique features like the HRV visor.
The HRV lets a player see through walls and such but they can’t fire a weapon, forcing team co-operation if they want to make proper use of it. Developer Zombie hopes that 70 achievable ranks and almost total gear customisation will keep interest high.
So far only Shadow Complex and Battlefield 1943 are among top digital only titles that have exploded in popularity and sales, more than covering development costs for their respective studios. Blacklight comes in at 1GB this summer.
