Now the Ratchet & Clank creators are going multiplatform, and EA are confident it’ll mean ”twice as many gamers” snap up their hard work.
Insomniac have been making PlayStation exclusive games for it’s entire 16-year history but now they fancy some of that Xbox 360 magic too.
”I think two of the biggest value-drivers for independent developers are IP ownership and the opportunity to develop on multiplatforms,” DeMartini told CVG. ”Previously Insomniac has only been on the Sony platform, and they’ll continue to be on the Sony platform.”
”But hopefully in partnership with us, they’ll be able to take it out to at least twice as many gamers as their other games have enjoyed - both by working with us and expanding” onto Xbox 360, continued the EA Partners helmer.
This doesn’t mean Resistance or Ratchet & Clank will be leaving the PlayStation platform though as Sony commands ownership of those IPs. It does mean that Insomniac can create some brand new properties and go wild with them beyond PS3.
