Final Fantasy XIII DLC "wound up not happening," plans

Director Motomu Toriyama of Final Fantasy XIII reveals plans for downloadable content were all set but just came to nothing - ”I’m sorry!”

Before it released in Japan, Toriyama-san told fans to ”hold on to their saves” giving hope to big DLC surprises. FFXIII is coming Xbox 360 in Japan.

”We were planning to make some DLC, but that plan wound up not happening,” revealed Toriyama-san. ”I’m sorry!” The whole situation got confusing a while back with Square’s left and right hand seemingly not on the same page - teasing and denying DLC.

Now Final Fantasy XIII is coming to Xbox 360 in Japan by way of ‘Ultimate Hits International’, but why now? ”Because we feel that there are a lot of 360 owners worldwide, and a lot of people in Japan who own nothing but 360s,” said producer Yoshinori Kitase.

“Thanks to the new system and such, the situation’s a lot different than it was in July 2008,” he added, referring to the new Xbox 360 slim and the PS3 FFXIII exclusive launch. This new international version includes cut event scenes and even an after story novel.
