Gran Turismo 5 ships 5.5 million globally, series totals 60 million

Sony has given the figure of 5.5 million for how many copies of Gran Turismo 5 have been shipped around the world, with 3.5 million going to Europe.

This pushes the GT series to 60 million units overall having been sent on their way. The original game still leads the pack at 10.98 million shipped.

GT5’s 5.5 million: That’s 3.5 million for Europe, 1.2 million for the US and 550k for Japan. Notice of course that this is ‘shipped’ and not ‘sold’ - companies like to confuse us sometimes with these words and even had Sony clarify recently.
