They have their ”work cut out” for them putting Mass Effect 3 together he admits, mainly for all those player decisions and their consequences.
Zeschuk says Mass Effect occupies a ”valuable universe,” and it’s one that won’t end with the third instalment - that’s just Shepard’s story it seems.
”We’re actually going to continue to use it for stuff and we’re going to continue to make games there,” he told Kotaku. ”Believe me, we have our work cut out for us for the next little while getting Mass Effect 3 done after this. Don’t worry if you love Mass Effect, there will be more Mass Effect in the future.”
As for Mass Effect 3: ”…the key thing being that that save game concept will work in 3 as well where we can take the save games from one to two, two to three,” he said.
”Even to the point where some of the decisions you made in 1 you’ll see the result in 3,” he continued. ”It’s actually interestingly impactful in that folks who have stuck with the franchise the entire time, there will be stuff that you will feel is yours that you’ve created in that third iteration.” There are bountiful rewards for gamers who carry over saves.
Mass Effect 2 is releasing next week on Xbox 360 and PC - ”it’s definitely bigger, probably about one and a half times, maybe a little more” Zeschuk said. ”There’s a lot more you can do, a lot more you should do.” Check out the launch trailer below.
