GDC 2011: Bungie say 'MMOFPS' confirmation was a joke

Bungie is stating that David Alrdridge’s comment about their next game being an MMO and not being called “WoW in Space” was a joke and not a confirmation of any game.

Aldridge, a network engineer at Bungie, had seemingly confirmed at a panel session at the Game Developers Conference that the developer’s next title is a “massively multiplayer action game.”

However, this was not a statement that an MMOFPS was not coming, just that this statement was not a confirmation of such a game. Either Aldridge was jumping the gun on a planned announcement or he was having fun with the rumor and the game is not an MMOFPS. Until Bungie actually announces the game, we have no idea what is coming.
