Sony broadening PS3 lawsuit, gearing up website subpoenas

One down, one globally connected digital community to go. Sony has decided to expand their PS3 lawsuit after their ‘victory’ against Jailbreaker Geohot.

Filings reveal Sony want subpoenas delivered to the likes of Twitter, PayPal, YouTube and others to surrender most if not all user details ‘linked to hacking’.

PSX-Scene were the ones to report the US court filings by the corporate giant. In fact they are a part of the VIP subpoena list which includes Twitter, PayPal, YouTube, SlashDot and Github. Sony wants all involved in hacking their PS3 hardware.

They listed known aliases in the filing: Cantero, Peter, Bushing, Segher, hermesEOL, Waninkoko, KaKaRoTo, Hermes, Kmeaw, Graf_Chokolo and more.

Contact details, personal information, IP addresses and all posted messages are sought. This comes after Geohot was issued a restraining order by the US Courts on behalf of Sony to demand he cease providing the ‘Jailbreak’ hack or any links to it.

Of course it might not matter if LG ‘win’ their little crusade.
