PSN likely not up until May end, "unaware of the extent" of hack

Sony has issued a new statement that PlayStation Network’s return, while still planned for this month, may not happen until the very end as they extend testing.

They were ”unaware of the extent” of the attack on SOE’s servers and so are conducting more tests on the ”incredibly complex system.” EU gets free titles.

Sony announced that EU PlayStation Network users would get the choice of two free PSN titles out of a small collection, although no one has confirmed what they’ll be. However that ‘compensation’ will have to keep waiting as Sony delays PSN’s return to service.

”When we held the press conference in Japan last week, based on what we knew, we expected to have the services online within a week,” said Sony’s Nick Caplin. ”We were unaware of the extent of the attack on Sony Online Entertainment servers, and we are taking this opportunity to conduct further testing of the incredibly complex system.”
