Sony closed out their Gamescom keynote by an announcement of a PlayStation 3 price cut, effective immediately. The standard PlayStation 3 model with a 160GB hard drive will be $249.99 in the U.S., €249.99 in Europe and ¥24,980 in Japan.
Sony also announced a new WiFi-less PSP for €99.99.
The price cut wasn’t completely a surprise. Amazon.com had accidentally leaked the new price earlier today. The price cut also comes shortly after reports that the PS3 finished in third place in console sales for July 2011.
